Basir Seerat is a filmmaker and photojournalist from Afghanistan and during 1998, he lived as a refugee. Seerat graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Kabul University Department of Theater and Cinema in 2005. That same year, he was kidnapped by the Taliban in Nuristan province while filming a documentary about the lives of women in that region. Seerat escaped after 10 days in captivity.
